Stephen Hart and his Descendants
Contributions of Hart Family Information
The continuation of this work depends on contributions of information about Stephen Hart and his many descendants.
Hundreds of people have already contributed information about their Hart ancestors. Much more is yet to be added.
Information that I look for, collect on my own, and will accept from anyone who can contribute it includes the following:
- Photographs or other images - Photographs, especially 19th century photos of people mentioned in Andrews' book,
are very desirable and will be accepted for inclusion on the CD.
- Letters and Journals - Both letters and journals provide information about Harts of centuries past, their
families, and their lives. Most letters or journals entries from teh 19th century or earlier will be included on the CD.
If they date to the 20th century and especially if they refer to living people, they may be less desirable.
- Genealogical Information - Family trees showing descendants of Stephen Hart are almost always acceptable.
Beacuse this information will be shared with others, you may wish to exclude people now living.
- Articles - If you have written, or know of an article about Stephen Hart or his descendants,
it would probably be a perfect addition to the CD, if the owner of he article will allow it to be published on the
Descendants of Stephen Hart CD. These may be old newspaper articles or ones written as part of your family history research.
- Deeds, Wills, Marriage Licenses, Military Records, Obituaries, etc. - Copies of these document, especially ones for
19th century and earlier Harts are excellent additions to the CD.
Consider What Information You Send
Before you send any information about yourself and your Hart family, please consider what you are sharing and who you are sharing it with.
Although I will be very selective in what information I make available on the Internet, others who receive the Descendants of Stephen Hart
CD may not be as selective. The National Genealogical Society has provided a good set of standards in their
Standards for Sharing Information with Others.
You may want to read those standards before you send anything to me or any others.
It is because of these standards that my focus is on people and events that date to the 19th century and earlier,
with a few exceptions for the early 20th century.
Cite Information Sources
It is also important to cite the sources of your information. I will cite you as the source of any informaiton that you send to me.
I will also include source information that you send to me. The work that you and others have done should be recognized and I will
do that to the best of my ability. (If you find any source information on the CD that needs correction, please let me know.)
