phia for a number of years. He is very benevolent, having contributed some $10,000 to build up the Central and Plymouth Churches of that city, besides the aid he bestowed some years since to the First Church in his native town, showing his New England principles and attachments.

ELLEN HART, New Britain, only daughter of Deacon Norman Hart, of the same place, and his wife, Minerva, daughter of Thomas Lee, Esq., born February 23d, in New Britain, where she joined the church, December 3d, 1848; married June 15th, 1853, Lemuel Russell Wells, son of Horace, and his wife, Pamela (Sedgwick), born January 2d, 1827, in New Britain. He was a farmer, and a deacon in the First Church. His residence was opposite his father’s, on East Street, New Britain. He died February 25th, 1867, aged 40 years, and was greatly lamented. They had no children. Mrs. Wells was educated at Holyoke Seminary, Holyoke, Mass.

HENRIETTA WOODING HART, New Britain, eldest daughter of Elijah Hart, 4th, of the same town, and his wife, Louisa (Warner), of Hamden, born March 25th, 1827, in New Britain; married September 14th, 1846, Darwin, son of Dr. Miles C. Francis, of Kensington, and his wife, Lydia (Bishop), of Stockbridge, Mass., born, August, 1823; died July 5th, 1854, aged 31 years, when second she married May 9th, 1860, Thomas Smith Ratcliff, son of Ezekiel, of Middletown, and his wife, Eunice (Winship), of Middletown, born January 6th, 1826, in Middletown. They live on Kensington Street, in the south part of the city of New Britain. He is a wagon maker by trade, which he learned in Middletown. She had one son and one daughter by Francis, and three sons and one daughter by Ratcliff.
