1743, at Saybrook; married there February 26th, 1770, William Bull, of Hartford, Son of Caleb, Jr., and his wife, Martha (Cadwell), born August 22d, 1748, at Hartford. She died at Saybrook, October 14th, 1791, aged 48 years, when he second married           , Ursula Bull, daughter of Isaac, of Litchfield, who survived him. He died at Litchfield, October 13th, 1799, aged 51 years, leaving no children, and gave his property, by Will, to his poorest relative, Russel Bull proving himself entitled to the estate.

LYNDE. JONES.
1762.                        Saybrook, Conn.

REBECCA HART, Saybrook, second daughter of Rev. William Hart, of the same town, and his wife, Mary (Blague), born January 22d, 1745, at Saybrook; married           , William Lynde, of Saybrook. They had—1, Henry. 2, John Hart, who graduated at Yale College, and was a lawyer; married Elizabeth, daughter of John Nichol, and had five children; died December 17th, 1817. 3, Joseph, born           ; married Elizabeth Jones, and had three children. Mr. Lynde, the husband of Rebecca, died, when second she married Timothy Jones, son of Timothy, grandson of Isaac, great- grandson of Deputy-Governor William, and great-great-grandson of Colonel John, the regicide.

1763.                        Saybrook, Conn.

MAJOR-GENERAL WILLIAM HART, Saybrook, Conn., eldest son of Rev. William Hart, of the same town, and his wife, Mary (Blague), born June 24th, 1746, at Saybrook; married           , Esther Buckingham, of Haddam, daughter of Joseph, and his wife, Sarah Tully, born March 8th, 1745. His avocation was a merchant. He was in the war of the revolution, became a major-general, and was for several years a candidate for governor of the state. In 1795 the Western Reserve, (so called,) belonging to the state of Connecticut, was purchased by subscription, by a company of wealthy citizens of the state, for $1,200,000. William Hart was one of the company, and his subscription was $30,462. In 1785 he was engaged in the mercantile business with his brother, Joseph, in Hartford, and were much engaged in the West India trade. His wife died March 15th, 1811, aged 66 years, when second he married January 28th, 1812, Lucy Buckingham, daughter of Samuel, and his wife, Lydia (Watrous), born November 6th, 1775. General Hart died August 29th, 1817, in his 72d year, when second she married General Matson Smith, of New Rochelle, N. Y. She died at Norwich, Conn., June 26th, 1851, aged 75.
