tember, 1853, Rufus Cowles Crampton, son of William, and his wife, Esther, daughter of Deacon Rufus Cowles, of Farmington and Plainville, born February 24th, 1828. In 1873 Mr. Crampton was professor of mathematics and astronomy at Jacksonville, Morgan County, Ill. He was a graduate of Yale in 1851, having entered that institution in 1847. They have one son, named Edward Hart.

DR. CHARLES LANGDON HART, Philadelphia, eldest son of Deacon Simeon Hart, of Farmington, and his second wife, Abby (Langdon), born April 8th, 1843, in Farmington; married August 10th, 1865, Sarah Franks, of Washington, D. C., daughter of Theodore, and his wife, Jane (McCormick). He is a practicing physician in Philadelphia, and was an assistant surgeon in the late war. She died at his mother’s residence in Farmington, January 12th, 1874, after an illness of one hundred and ninety-five days.
