country; but this is not to be compared to the crushing blow which falls upon his dear and bereaved family. He lived just one week after he was wounded, suffered but little, and talked cheerfully and hopefully. The ball passed through the spine, thus paralyzing all the lower parts of the body."

He died of his wound in the hospital near Resaca, Ga., May 22d, 1864, and a sermon on the occasion of his death was preached in the Congregational Church, Bristol, Conn., July 3d, 1864, by Rev. Leveret Griggs, printed in pamphlet form, 12 pages, by David B. Moseley, Hartford, 1864.

SYLVIA D. HART, Southington, eldest daughter of Reuben Hart, of the same town, and his wife, Abigail (Bradley), born April 20th, 1821, at Flanders District, Southington; married August 13th, 1845, Francis Deming Lewis, of Southington, son of Timothy, and his wife, Phila (Tisdale). They lived on the old homestead of her father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, where he built himself a new house on the site of the old one, and was residing there in 1872. She died September 4th, 1852, aged 31, when second he married September 23d, 1855, Elizabeth P. Gilbert.

REUBEN ROSWELL HART, Southington, second son of Roswell Hart, of the same town, and his wife, Pamelia (Amsden), born November 9th, 1831, at Southington; married June 9th, 1856, Julia A., daughter of William Clark, of Southington, and his wife, Jennette (Converse), born February 21st, 1836, at Southington. His avocation is farming, and he owns in part and occupies the Barrett farm, in the north part of the town.
