Non-Obvious Tips
I find these useful, and non-obvious - at least at first. I hope you like them!
Tech: Saving Verizon Wireless Voice Mail
How to save a voice mail message to a file? There are extra cost methods, but here's what I did:
- Called my cell number from my PC, using Google Voice. (Google Chrome is best for Voice.)
- Let it ring until voice mail answers, pressed # during the greeting, and logged into voice mail.
- Played the message I wanted, while recording the audio on my PC.
Recording on your PC may take a little fiddling or even custom software. My Surface has sound by Realtek, so I enabled the "Stereo Mix" under Control Panel > Sound | Recording and then used Windows Sound Recorder:
Bicycling: Tube Alignment
When changing a tube, align the valve stem with a label on the tire. I use the "Rotation->" label:
When you later pull the tube and find the leak on the tube, it's easier to find the same place on the tire. So you can then remove that teensy tiny piece of metal embedded in the tire, the one just waiting to cut up your next tube. (Did this happen to me today??)
Using the "Rotation->" label also makes it more likely I'll put the tire back on correctly!
