N. Y.; married September 3d, 1833, Orange Martin Roode. They have one child, Bertrand Elizur, born December 21st, 1835, at Rome, Mich., married October 5th, 1871, Eli B. Moffitt. The parents and daughter are members of the Presbyterian Church.

LUCY KIRTLAND HART, Adrian, Mich., second daughter of Joseph, of New Britain, Conn., and New Durham, N. Y., and his wife, Lucy (Kirtland), of Saybrook, Conn., born January 22d, 1814, at Albion, Orleans County, N. Y., being the first child born in the county; married August 19th, 1839, Ambrose Spencer Berry, of Adrian, Lenawee County, Mich. He is a dealer in real estate, and both are members of the Presbyterian Church.

MARY ANN HART, Adrian, Mich., third daughter of Joseph Hart, of New Britain, Conn., and New Durham, N. Y., and his wife, Lucy (Kirtland), of Saybrook, Conn., born June 2d, 1817, at Albion, Orleans County, N. Y.; married, September, 1841, Langford Green Berry, of Adrian, only brother of A. S. Berry, who married her sister, Lucy. She died May 8th, 1849, aged 32 years. Some twenty-four hours before her death she called for her son and daughter, laid her emaciated hands upon their heads and gave them her parting blessing, and also gave them to a covenant-keeping God, and then said, “Take them away.” She then sang—

“Jesus can make a dying bed,
Feel soft as downy pillows are”—

and sweetly passed away. Their children are—1, Benjamin Hart, born August 20th, 1842, at Adrian, Mich. He enlisted in the Twentieth Regiment Michigan Volunteers, and was at the seige of Knoxville, in the battle of the Wilderness, at the surrender of Vicksburg, and was taken prisoner, but escaped, and was promoted to captain. His health failed and he was sent to the hospital, but subsequently was honorably discharged. 2, Emily Alice, born March 19th, 1845; married December 25th, 1868, Scyler F. Segar, a lawyer of Lansing, Mich. 3, Mary Hart, born February 6th, 1849; died January 26th, 1863.
