DOROTHY HART, New Britain, Conn., second daughter of Ebenezer Hart, of the same town, and his wife, Lucy (Jerome), born September 16th, 1795, at New Britain; married February 3d, 1814, Colonel Joseph Wright, son of Deacon Benjamin, and his wife, Elizabeth (Culver), born October 7th, 1779, at Rocky Hill, then called Stepney. He lived on his father's old homestead, on East Street. He was colonel of militia, judge of probate, selectman, repre- sentative of the town to the legislature, and an ardent temperance reformer. In 1850 he sold his place, and built on Chestnut Street, in the city, where he died, July 19th, 1855, aged 76 years. She was admitted to the church, October 5th, 1823. She is living a widow in 1874, and is in comfortable health, They had—1, Lucy Hart, born December 11th, 1814; 2, Benjamin Gaylord, born October 26th, 1816, married April 17th, 1839, Prudence Hubbard; 3, Oliver Cromwell, born September 16th, 1819, married October 6th, 1841, Mary H. Jones; 4, Edwin Culver, born Decem- ber 4th, 1821, married July 27th, 1852, Louisa C. Jessup; 5, Emily Elizabeth, born December 11th, 1828, died August 30th, 1838; 6, Hercelia Ann, born April 21st, 1833, died December 24th, 1854.
