[ The following information is taken from an article in the May/June 1999 issue of the Hart Historical Notes, entitled, "Genealogy of Charles W. Hart of the Hart-Parr Tractor Company," by Nancy F. Dybing.

The children listed above for Gilbert Hart are neither correct nor complete. Jessie Williams Hart , who researched this line in the 1930's stated:

"There was no child named Clark. The son, born in 1806, was Charles, and the baptismal record, still preserved, clearly indicates this. Lydia died in infancy. The names of seven children are wholly omitted. Of the seven, four died leaving no children. But Laura Hart Mattoon, Thomas Benjamin Hart and Lydia Minerva Hart Smith left descendants, as did also Charles Hart"

Gilbert Hart served in the Revolutionary War with various Connecticut regiments. He was present at the siege of Yorktown. He later drew a pension of $80 per year from 1833 until his death. (The article says his death was in 1845, while the entry above gives the date as 1847. Which is correct?)

Charles W. Hart, born 1872, died 1937, of Hart-Parr Tractor Company was a grandson of Thomas Benjamin Hart.
