18.                         Kensington, Conn.

ESTHER HART, Kensington, Conn., eldest daughter of Deacon John Hart, of Farmington and Kensington, and his first wife, Esther Gridley, born September 19th, 1707, at Farmington; married June 29th, 1727, Nathaniel Newell, son of Samuel, of Farmington, and his wife, Mary Hart, born February 20th, 1703. They resided at Farmington, where he became one of the deacons of that church. He died there August 31st, 1753, aged 50 years. She inherited a portion of her father's estate in Kensington, by his Will, the inventory of which was taken March 23d, 1754. She was a member of the church in Farmington, and died there October 3d, 1762, aged 53 years. Their children were - 1, Nathaniel, born July 30th, 1728; 2, Abel, born August 15th, 1730, and became pastor of the church in Goshen, Conn.; and Elisha, born December 6th, 1732, married Abigail Hart, March 13th, 1755.

JUDAH HART, New Britain, eldest son of Deacon John Hart, of Farmington and Kensington, and his first wife, Esther, daughter of Samuel Gridley, the trader; born October 25th, 1709, at Farmington; married February 20th, 1734-5, Anna, daughter of Sergeant John Norton, of Farmington and Kensington Parish, and his wife, Anna Thompson, born January 15th, 1718. They located in Hart Quarter, New Britain, soon after marriage. His house is still standing, (1874,) opposite the school-house, and is in good condition. He was a man of more than ordinary intelligence, of much force of character, and often employed in public affairs. His first wife, Anna, died, when second he married September 27th, 1759, Sarah, widow of James North, and daughter of                 Seymour, who died August 20th, 1781, aged 61 years. He died September 14th, 1784, aged 75 years. His Will, dated September 6th, 1784, gives his son Judah all his estate, on condition that he pay all his debts, funeral charges, tombstones, and the following legacies, viz:

To the heirs of my son Elias, 20s.
To the heirs of my daughter Ann, late deceased.
To my daughter Esther, wife of Eliphaz Alvord, Esq.
To the heirs of my son John, deceased, 10s.

He appointed his son Judah sole executor, who exhibited the Will and proved it in probate court at Farmington, December 6th, 1784. It was witnessed by Isaac Andrews, Thomas Booth, and Lemuel Hotchkiss.
