New WVMS Members

Please welcome to the club the following new members:

Masako Mera of Salem. Welcome!

If I've forgotten to include you as a new member (or did include you as a new member when your not), please let me know at the next meeting.

Meeting Location

Meetings are normally at 7:30 p.m. the first Monday of the month, (Saturday, September 11th at 11:00 is the potluck-see the directions on this page) October through December and February through June. We meet at:

Jason Lee Methodist Church
820 Jefferson Street NE
Salem

Meetings are held in the Kirby Room on the first floor. Parking is at the back entrance of the church, on the corner of Winter Street and Norway. There is a ramp available at this entrance for persons unable to use the stairs.

Please see the directions on this page to get to the picnic location that will be held on Saturday, September 11 in Helmick State Park, just outside of Monmouth, Oregon.

Directions to the Helmick Park Picnic Site

The September meeting will be held as a potluck on Saturday, September 11th, in Helmick Park, just south of Monmouth, Oregon. People will begin meeting at 11:00 a.m., with the food being served at 1:00. The (verbal) map follows:

From Salem take the Marion Street bridge towards the Ocean Beaches/Dallas. This is Highway 22. Travel towards the Ocean Beaches for around 9 miles until you get to a major intersection with actual stop lights in all four directions. This is the junction of Highway 99w. You will be taking a left at this intersection (there is a left turn lane and signal here) and going towards Monmouth/Corvallis.

After you've traveled around 5 miles you will get to Monmouth. Continue on Highway 99w through Monmouth. I haven't clocked it for distance, but somewhere between 4 and 9 miles you will see signs for a State Park. You exit to Helmick State Park on the left (I believe-keep your eyes open). You're there! There will be the standard State Park sign, so you really can't miss it.

The important thing to remember is that it is directly off from Highway 99w. Once you've turned from Highway 22 left onto Highway 99w towards Monmouth/Corvallis, you can't miss it.
