Current And Future Meetings

Next meeting will be Judy Roger will be talking about the Chanterelle project. Nothing is scheduled for the May meeting yet.

Evelyn Moreland was the speaker at last months meeting (although I'm sorry to say I had to miss it because of prior engagements). She spoke about the deep secrets of year round mushroom hunting - which as the expert mushroomers know boils down to going outside and looking! She also went over the geographic distribution of the basic Pacific Northwest mushroom species. Everyone was encouraged to bring there own field guides - a good idea for any meeting.

Paul Esser from Silverton came back from Balize with a bunch of pictures of his trip. Craig was temporary chairman in Genies place, and he asked Paul to talk of his experiences. He had actually taken lots of mushroom pictures even! Unfortunately(?) the rainy season was almost over during his time there. He also had lots of neat fish pictures and pictures from some of the Mayan ruins.

About three people said that they had written their letters to the proper authorities for the proposed foraging regulations that are being proposed for the various State and National forest lands. Katsu and Genie are working on a draft copy of a letter to represent the entire group (which should be done by the next meeting), and Genie was suggesting that individuals members writing letters would be more powerful than a letter only from the group. Please send copies to the club if you do submit any letters to Katsu so that we can have copies on file in the club archives. The more the better! Even if we have the same idea, lets put it in our words.

Ruth and Craig Marlette will be out of town for the next meeting.
